Why People Visit Websites and Its Impact on SEO

As technology continues to progress while our world has slowed down due to the pandemic, more and more people are active online on a daily basis. Between social interactions, relevant news, online shopping and more, online businesses and social platforms are booming!

Let’s dig deeper into seven reasons why people are visiting websites to give you a clearer picture of what your potential clients are looking for, and how it can impact your SEO.

1.) They Crave Connection

People are craving connection with others more than ever before. From lockdowns to canceled events, quarantining and closed activities, people are feeling lonely. Social media platforms have thousands of new users a day, and many businesses are taking advantage of creating online communities and being present within those platforms. In addition, many events are being switched from in-person events to virtual events.

2.) To Stay Informed

With what seems like something new being thrown at us every day, many people are turning to online websites to gather their daily news and local updates. Online resources and news sites are providing people with the much needed information they desire during these uncertain times.

3.) In Need of Information

In the past, people had to ask someone more knowledgeable or visit the library to gather information. Now, the answer to almost any question can be found online. People may not even be aware of how many times they are utilizing valuable websites to gather information

Whether they need to know the hours of their local grocery store, directions to their friend’s house or how old their favorite actor is, they are directed to some sort of website or platform every time they search the web.

4.) Entertainment Purposes

The internet is a prime hotspot for easy-access to endless entertainment. Most people can have access to the internet almost anywhere, at any time. Due to the pandemic, a lot of entertainment sources have been moved online. Instead of a movie being released in theaters, it’s released online. Many events, such as stand-up comedy shows, award nights and even concerts are being moved to virtual events that can be streamed from people’s phones, computers and TVs.

5.) The Desire to Learn

The beautiful thing about having a resource for learning at our fingertips is that we can take it at our own pace. Since the pandemic, many people have dove into learning about topics they never took the time to research before because they have been pushed outside their comfort zones or are just… bored!

Also, many students have begun the journey of online schooling in the past two years, whether they are homeschooled or taking college courses. Those who normally attend conferences are now tuning in online to watch them as a virtual event. The internet continues to be a learning hub for those who have the desire to grow and succeed.

6.) Online Shopping

Ecommerce is on an upward swing with Covid-19 interrupting store hours and people’s desire to shop in-person. Many businesses are updating their shopping and checkout processes to make buying online more convenient.

In addition, many people are turning to shopping as a way to feel good about themselves or make their lives at home more convenient. In-person gifts are being shopped for online, groceries and fast food are being delivered to our front doorsteps… The possibilities for ecommerce are truly endless.

7.) They Want to be Inspired

With people staying home more during the pandemic, they’re searching the web for home reno ideas, new recipes and ways to entertain children. Sometimes, people just feel bored or unmotivated and are looking for new ideas and ways to feel excited about something again!

So how does this impact SEO? When we take a step back and really dive into why people are visiting websites, this gives us a clearer idea of the direction we should be taking in terms of keyword research, promotional content and possible content gaps that need your valuable contribution!
